Fisherman’s Wharf Galveston, Texas

Outdoor seating at Fisherman’s Wharf in Galveston, Texas.

My family has always loved Galveston as a vacation spot. We were there before a cruise on the Navigator of the Seas in 2015 and again before a cruise on the Liberty of the Seas in 2017, and it is also a great destination in it’s own right. We wanted to get our cruise vacation off to a strong start, so we started with lunch at one of our favorite spots– Fisherman’s Wharf, which is located walking distance from the cruise piers.  It is a Landry’s outpost, and I normally try to stay clear of big chain places when I am on vacation, but they do awfully good work with seafood in a very nice setting. If the weather permits it, ask for a table outside on the pier.

The first thing to note about eating here is that the portions tend to be large. For my lunch, I got an appetizer of the 4 mini crab cakes. I also got a side order of risotto. What came to our table was enormous. The photos don’t do it justice, but it looked like this:

You can see some of our other plates in the background. If you don’t feel like seafood, they will also have a couple of other choices for you. The reason you are here, though, is that the seafood is very good. Some of it is also fresh, and they have displays with fresh fish as you walk in. This is a great location for a meal convenient to the cruise piers in Galveston, and there is also convenient parking out front. I bet we go back the next time we are in town.
