Sometimes accidents are happy things. Part of the joy of Las Vegas for me is the escape of it all. I was able to stay in a two bedroom penthouse at the Aria Sky Suites a few years ago, and Le Cirque in the Bellagio is one of my favorite places to eat. I pretend I am a high roller. Happily, however, I recently traveled with friends who do Vegas very differently. That meant I tried places I might not otherwise have sampled, and Bruxie Las Vegas was a happy accident they helped me discover. They serve excellent fried chicken, have reasonable prices, and are an excellent stop if you are anywhere near the New York New York.
When we walked in, I wasn’t particularly hopeful. This is one of those places where you order from an overhead menu board, and the clerk said I couldn’t do a room charge. Apparently, they rent space from the hotel but aren’t part of it. However, the menu looked amazing. I wasn’t able to get a good picture, but you can download it from their website. I was travelling with my wife, and we wanted to try several things. We decided to order two things. The portions were huge, and I am glad we decided to split them.
I was dubious of ordering a fried chicken sandwich. My suspicion increased when it came in a waffle. I was wrong.
The chicken was incredibly juicy and tender, and the flavor was just right. The waffle was also crisp, and it did a great job of holding the sandwich together. There was so much fried chicken breast that I am glad I never met the chicken which constituted the sandwich. A chicken that size can hurt you. I am sad that we did not go back to eat there a second time.
The Irish Nachos were french fries with stuff on them. I recall cheese and sour cream and bacon. They were good, but we should have simply ordered a side of waffle fries. Also, this was a ton of food.
The decor in this place is simple. They don’t have a bar, but you can order alcohol in mini-bottles if you like. Bruxie Las Vegas isn’t fancy. It is, however, an excellent place to eat fried chicken. I am glad we went.
