In December 2016, I was able to fly the American Airlines Boeing 772 (777-200). On that flight, it was configured in long-haul business class for a flight from DFW to NRT. If you get very lucky, however, you can also catch this plane in first class on domestic flights. I had that opportunity flying DFW to MIA this Summer, and it was amazing. While the service was the standard service for a domestic flight, the seat was exactly the same. Here, I want to talk about the hard product of the seat. Several months ago, American Airlines expanded their special meal offerings. If you are flying in first class and pre-order, AA domestic flights now offer many of the same choices as were previously available only on international flights. I pre-ordered the American Airlines Hindu meal when I flew from DFW to MIA on June 30, 2018. It wasn’t fantastic, but it was much better than many of the domestic offerings I have had recently. Expanded American Airlines Special Meals on Domestic Flights

Dine Drink Travel previously reported that if you book a first class seat on American, you can pre-order your meal. This is true on both domestic and international flights. The service open up 30 days (to the minute) before the flight, and it stays open until 24 hours before takeoff. It is a great option to have. Domestic flights have typically had two entree options, and American recently added a cheese plate option. However, American Airlines special meals- options for folks with religious or dietary needs- have not been available on domestic flights until now. American Airlines regional jet first class (Updated)

I wrote last year about regional jet first class service onĀ American Airlines (or American Eagle). For those of us who fly out of smaller markets, having this first class product is a great option. I had the opportunity to fly this product December 29 between Phoenix and Houston. This is a longer flight between two larger markets, so I wanted to update my original post. This flight was also scheduled to have a dinner service. This is not a great first class product, but it is much better than any domestic economy class flight. IAH Admiral’s Club in Terminal A

The door to the IAH Admiral’s Club in Terminal A.

American Airlines has made a lot of improvements to their Admiral’s Club lounges over the last year. They are offering a wider variety of snacks, and my personal favorite is the guacamole available every afternoon. Then again, two kinds of free soup or the free fancy coffee machine are also nice. Of all the improvements they have made, however, one is particularly important to me. In 2017, AA re-opened the long-dormant IAH Admiral’s Club in Terminal A. They did a great job of remodeling, and this is a fantastic addition for those of us flying American out of Houston’s George Bush airport. Continue reading “IAH Admiral’s Club in Terminal A”
