Have you ever been to one of those places where you can watch people make fresh pasta after you have ordered it? There is a new Chinese place in Midland, TX called Noodles that does exactly that, and it is fantastic. It is located in a strip mall at the corner of Midkiff and Andrews Highway, and we have been there twice now. It can get really crowded at peak hours, but it is still a great addition to the local scene.
I have good news for fans of curry disappointed by the closure of the Indian restaurant formerly located at the Grand Texan hotel in Midland (or the closure of the Thai places, or the general lack of curry options). The chef from the Midland establishment has opened up Taste of India inside the Ramada at the intersection of JBS Parkway and Highway 80 in Odessa. I have eaten there four times now, and while it isn’t my favorite curry house in the world, well, I have eaten there four times now. It is a great option to have in the area.
I was excited when I heard the Rosa’s Cafe on Faudree in Odessa was going to start serving breakfast. The menu was limited and it is drive through service, but breakfast was the last frontier in causing me to prefer Taco Cabana for my fast food Mexican fix. My home airport is the Midland Odessa International Airport. The “International” part has always confused me, although I suppose they might receive some private traffic from Mexico or Canada. The airport also wishes to be a spaceport, which is not immediately relevant to my travel needs. However, it is a fantastic regional airport and a great place to start or end a flight. There are several excellent places to get a burger in the Petroplex, but if what you are looking at is the quality of the food (while ignoring the price tag), Grub Burger in Midland is hard to beat. The burgers are always fantastic, not least because they make their own buns. As a bonus, there are great choices for anybody in your group who doesn’t want beef.
