I previously reviewed Grub Burger in Midland, TX, and this is not that post– a comprehensive review of the restaurant. The basic review remains the same. It is an amazing hamburger that you have to decide is worth paying for. Earlier today my kids and I made exactly that decision, and we went to eat there after church. I am writing this to talk about two of the burgers we tried– the Wagyu Market Burger and the Mac n’ Cheese burger. The former is the Grub Burger market burger, and the Mac n’ Cheese burger is a regular item on the menu. The “market burger” is a special burger rotating through the menu for a limited time. I am torn. In a perfect world, I resent having to choose between good food and good service when I go to a restaurant. When compelled to choose, I prefer the good food. The biggest part of why I go to a restaurant is to eat something delicious that I cannot easily prepare at home. That said, I also eat out because I can do things I can’t at home– for example, I can sit on my bum, wait for people to bring me stuff, and then have them clean it up and take it away. Good service matters less than good food, but it matters too. Happily, most restaurants don’t make me choose between the two. Sadly, Bubba’s 33 in both Midland and Odessa does. I eat there because the food is consistently good, the prices are reasonable, and I love the atmosphere of having lots of televisions on to watch lots of games of sportsball. I keep waiting a couple of months between visits because every time I go, something weird happens service wise which makes me want to not go back for a while. Have you ever been to one of those places where you can watch people make fresh pasta after you have ordered it? There is a new Chinese place in Midland, TX called Noodles that does exactly that, and it is fantastic. Noodles Midland is located in a strip mall at the corner of Midkiff and Andrews Highway, and we have been there twice now. It can get really crowded at peak hours, but it is still a great addition to the local scene. They serve dim sum and fresh pastas.
My home airport is the Midland Odessa International Airport. The “International” part has always confused me, although I suppose they might receive some private traffic from Mexico or Canada. The airport also wishes to be a spaceport, which is not immediately relevant to my travel needs. However, it is a fantastic regional airport and a great place to start or end a flight. See this short video if you want a walk through of the available facilities. Continue reading “Midland Odessa International Airport MAF”
There are several excellent places to get a burger in the Petroplex, but if what you are looking at is the quality of the food (while ignoring the price tag), Grub Burger in Midland is hard to beat. The burgers are always fantastic, not least because they make their own buns. As a bonus, there are great choices for anybody in your group who doesn’t want beef. The kids and I went today for lunch and it was, as always, fantastic. Continue reading “Grub Burger Midland TX”
