Hello all. Mrs. Tophat and I just got back from an excellent Carnival Fascination Penthouse Suite cruise adventure to the Southern Caribbean. Over the next few weeks we are going to share with you our entire cruise experience. We sailed on May 20th from San Juan to St. Thomas, Barbados, St. Lucia, St. Kitts, and St. Marteen. This cruise was about the ports of call. We are gold cruisers with Carnival, having sailed with them many times out of New Orleans and Miami, so we were familiar with the Carnival experience. We booked this cruise online via Carnival about a month before the sail date, so we had few options of cabins, and thus we ended up booking an extended grand suite on deck 6. But, a few weeks before we sailed, the upgrade fairy called and offered us a Owners Penthouse Suite on deck 12.
These rooms are not on the deck plans the Carnival publishes, and while it was a pretty penny to upgrade, we took advantage of this opportunity. This also meant that we were upgraded from gold to platinum cruisers for this cruise! I have to say that over the years we have been very lucky in getting calls before our cruise for upgrades, and this time, it really worked out for us! We booked all of our shore excursions before had, and bought the top drink package, so our cruise experience was all set well before we sailed. We also were able to upgrade our flights to first class. Thus, on May 19th, which just happened to be our anniversary, we set off to have some fun. So, we will be posting about the following parts of this adventure in the coming weeks:
- United’s First Class Flights from Midland, TX to San Juan, PR, and back again. (Coming June 5th)
- A day in San Juan before the cruise, including an excellent boutique hotel.
- The embarkation experience for suites and the room itself.
- Food and entertainment on the Carnival Fascination.
- Reviews of each port of call, including Carnival’s shore excursions.
Just for a taste, of what is to come, here is a picture of the entry to the penthouse suite.
And, here is the wonderful, wonderful, 3 pound Caribbean lobster I had in St. Kitts.
Overall, this was an excellent vacation from beginning to end. There are always a few small hitches along the way, but it was a great vacation. So, stay tuned for some detailed explorations of United First Class, San Juan as an embarkation port, Carnival’s suites, and the Southern Caribbean. The Carnival Fascination Penthouse Suite was an amazing adventure.
