Jamaica Culinary Tours

Jamaica Culinary Tours offers an amazing Falmouth shore excursion. They pick you up inside the pier area and show you a slice of the real Jamaica.

Earlier this week, I wrote about the Falmouth cruise pier. I mentioned that I wouldn’t want to go outside it on my own again. However, that doesn’t mean you should stay there. I wanted the kids to have an authentic slice of Jamaican culture. However, Royal Caribbean didn’t offer a Falmouth shore excursion which interested me. We made a private booking with Jamaica Culinary Tours instead. Our experience was amazing, and I was thrilled to experience this authentic slice of Jamaican culture.

Falmouth cruise pier

The Falmouth cruise pier in Jamaica is not an authentic slice of the Jamaican experience. It is, however, a beautiful place to shop, eat, and get a brief taste of local culture. Try the beef patty!

When I cruise, I like to get an authentic slice of local culture. For example, we went on a local culinary tour in Falmouth in July 2019. However, some folks also cruise for relaxation and the comfort of something familiar. If that is you, the Falmouth cruise pier is a great way to spend the day. It is clean, safe, and presents a ton of options for dining and shopping. There is even a local crafts market and a taste of the local cuisine.

Lunch in Grand Cayman

Cayman Cabana is an excellent lunch choice near the cruise pier in Georgetown, Grand Cayman. Turn left on N. Church Street from the cruise pier and walk about a block past a beach.

Earlier this week, I wrote that we enjoyed our beach day at Royal Palms Beach Club. The atmosphere was high energy, and the food looked great. However, we wanted a quieter lunch with a more local feel. We wound up at Cayman Cabana right by the cruise pier. They offered local dishes with outdoor seating and gorgeous views. I highly recommend it for lunch in Grand Cayman.

Royal Palms Beach Club shore excursion

The Royal Palms Beach Club in Grand Cayman is a great, high-energy shore excursion.

Every cruise, I love to take a low-key day to relax on the beach. My favorite spot for that is Maya Chan. This cruise, however, didn’t take us that way. When we went to Grand Cayman this Summer, we booked a day at the Royal Palms Beach Club (RPBC). It wasn’t quiet and relaxing by any means. Instead, it was a high energy day on a beautiful section of beach. If that’s what you are looking for in a shore excursion, this is a great option for you.

Laser tag at Chankanaab Park in Cozumel

In August 2015 we took a family cruise on the Navigator of the Seas from Galveston, TX to Cozumel, Belize, and Roatan. I wrote earlier about the cruise overall, and this post is to discuss the stop in Cozumel. Specifically, we spent most of the day at Chankanaab Park via an excursion we booked on our own rather than through the cruise ship. Continue reading “Laser tag at Chankanaab Park in Cozumel”
