Zumanity, the Cirque du Soleil show playing regularly at the New York New York in Las Vegas, is… interesting. There are some amazing acrobatics, and every seat offers a great view of the stage. However, you need to know what you are getting into. The show bills itself as a celebration of human sexuality, and it certainly isn’t appropriate for children. To give you a better idea of what to expect, I will divide this review into two sections. First, I will describe what happens before the show. Second, I will describe the show itself. A word to the wise: Sit on the upper level if you don’t want to become involved in the show. Continue reading “Zumanity by Cirque du Soleil in Las Vegas”
Sometimes accidents are happy things. Part of the joy of Las Vegas for me is the escape of it all. I was able to stay in a two bedroom penthouse at the Aria Sky Suites a few years ago, and Le Cirque in the Bellagio is one of my favorite places to eat. I pretend I am a high roller. Happily, however, I recently traveled with friends who do Vegas very differently. That meant I tried places I might not otherwise have sampled, and Bruxie Las Vegas was a happy accident they helped me discover. They serve excellent fried chicken, have reasonable prices, and are an excellent stop if you are anywhere near the New York New York. Continue reading “Bruxie Las Vegas for excellent fried chicken”
One of the real advantages American Airlines offers is the ability to pre-order your meals if you are travelling in first class. Anywhere from 30 days in advance until 24 hours before flight departure, you can select the meal you would like. That means you know you will get your first choice, and quite often some of the meal choices are only available if you pre-order. For example, when travelling to Japan one has to pre-order the Japanese meal. Today, I am going to tell you what options American has available for our flight from Dallas (DFW) to Las Vegas (LAS) next month. It looks fantastic, and it should be a great way to start the trip. I will, of course, provide a better review after we have taken the trip. Continue reading “First class meal options on American Airlines from Dallas to Las Vegas”
In March, I had the opportunity to dine at Prime Steakhouse in the Bellagio hotel in Las Vegas. The upshot: The food was delicious and the service was excellent, but what really makes this restaurant worth the price you pay is if you have time to wait for a table outside. That is one of the prettiest spots in which I have ever dined.
I am an extraordinarily lucky man. I have lived in the United States, Mexico, and Nigeria, and in addition to those places have eaten meals in Indonesia, Japan, Canada, multiple spots in the Caribbean, Nicaragua, England, Holland, and probably some places I am forgetting. I am a proud consumer of food from street vendors, I grew up with home cooking in Texas, and I can comport myself reasonably well in very nice restaurants. I say all of this to express the judgment I use in making this claim- my favorite restaurant in the world is Le Cirque in the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. I have stayed there in a Penthouse suite and in other accommodations, although that is generally because it is convenient to this restaurant. My favorite place to eat remains my grandmother’s kitchen, but if I am going to pay for a meal then this is the place to do it. Continue reading “Le Cirque in the Bellagio Las Vegas”
