I *hate* waiting in airports. I hate it more than when I am playing blackjack, have two face cards against a dealer 6, and still somehow lose. Unfortunately, at the Las Vegas airport lines are unpredictable. That means you have to get there early, and that means you may wind up waiting a long time. Fortunately, I have the American Express Platinum Card. The lines can be really long, but the Amex Centurion Lounge is a great place to wait for your next flight out of Las Vegas.
Where is the Amex lounge located?
The American Express lounge is located in Terminal 1 near the D gates. It is closest to the gates used by American Airlines. It is not practical for use if you are flying Southwest, although if you have a few extra minutes you can certainly get there from most United flights. There aren’t a lot of other great options in this area, which makes the lounge a particularly attractive place to wait. Unfortunately, that often means that there is a fairly long line to get in.
What is the Centurion Lounge like inside?
We have taken video of this space twice for our Dine Drink Vegas Youtube channel. This is what it looked like in 2021, and this is the tour we took in May 2023. After you clear the folks who verify your membership, there are several large seating areas to your left. There are also two small rooms for private phone conversations, and there are a couple of spots to get complimentary coffee and coffee drink. There is also a lovely buffet, and most drinks at the bar are included. Amex has started to do a better job of capacity control over the last couple of years. That means the lines are longer, but it is significantly easier to find a place to sit once you get in

Of course, the best feature of any airport VIP lounge is that the bathrooms will be less crowded and cleaned more often. It is hard to overstate how important this is. The only real downside to the Amex Centurion Lounge in Las Vegas is that it is not tied to any particular airline. That means they cannot provide much help in the event of irregular operations. Then again, United is the only airline in Vegas with their own club. If you have the American Express Platinum or Centurion cards, then this lounge is definitely worth checking out on your next trip out of Las Vegas.
