Galveston City Council to consider Terminal 3

I reported yesterday that the Port of Galveston was considering the final agreement with Royal Caribbean for Terminal 3. The Port approved that agreement. Today, the Galveston City Council will also vote on the agreement. Specifically, item 12(B) on today’s agenda has the city attorney asking for permission to sign the agreement.

Port of Galveston voting on deal with Royal Caribbean for third terminal

Port of Galveston officials are set to vote today on the details of a Cruise Terminal 3 in Galveston. If approved, look for Royal to announce soon an Oasis Class ship sailing from Galveston.

Port of Galveston officials are set to vote later today on the details of a third cruise terminal. Set to be built with Royal Caribbean, the new Terminal 3 would significantly expand cruise options from Galveston. Specifically, look for the addition of an Oasis Class ship sailing from Galveston in Fall 2021. What, specifically, is in the deal the Port is voting on?

What to expect from Royal Caribbean 2021-2022

The Allure of the Seas is pictured here with sister ships from the Oasis Class. Royal Caribbean has not made any announcements. However, it may be a key part of Royal Caribbean 2021-2022 plans from Galveston.

Royal Caribbean has sailed at least two ships from Texas for several years now. Currently, only the Liberty of the Seas is scheduled to sail from Texas in Summer 2021. Speculation has been rife that Royal will move an Oasis Class ship to Galveston. They have also delayed the announcement of their entire Caribbean schedule. So what do we know about the Royal Caribbean 2021-2022 plan from Galveston?

Galveston Oasis Class announcement delayed

Any upcoming Galveston Oasis Class announcement has been delayed. Pictured here is the Allure of the Seas, which has not yet been scheduled for any other port in late 2021.

The Port of Galveston announced last year plans to build a third cruise pier. Those details are forthcoming. However, in December 2018 Galveston officials talked about building it as a much larger pier. Royal Caribbean officials discussed their desire to bring a larger ship to Galveston. On Tuesday, I wrote that only the Liberty of the Seas is scheduled in Galveston past April 2021. It looks like there will be more good news for Galveston cruisers. However, a Galveston Oasis class announcement has been delayed. Royal Caribbean should announce more details in early December.
