The Carnival Vista has struggled with propulsion issues for the last several cruises. The June 15 sailing experienced minor disruptions, and the June 22 and June 29 sailings were significantly altered. While the ship has always functioned safely, it could not cruise at maximum speed. It now appears that the ship will need to dry dock to repair the problem. There are three Carnival Vista sailings cancelled. Passengers scheduled to depart July 6, 13, and 20 are being offered significant compensation by Carnival for their lost cruise.
Passengers on the cancelled sailings will receive a full refund from Carnival. They will also receive reimbursement for airline change fees up to $200. Passengers will also receive a 100% future cruise credit. A Carnival agent can explain to passengers details on when the credit must be used. However, it recognizes that passengers have an extreme inconvenience and rewards them with a free cruise in the future.
What else can I do in Galveston?
Understandably, many folks on one of the impacted sailings will need to quickly change vacation plans. It isn’t always possible to simply cruise on a different week with the provided credit. Many folks will also already have tickets to the island. We are here for you.
Check out our Enjoy Galveston page. It is, admittedly, still under construction as we revamp this site. However, Galveston has great restaurants. Our favorite is Fisherman’s Wharf. Olympia’s Grill is excellent. Seawolf Park is an excellent naval museum. La King’s is great for an afternoon treat. We are genuinely sorry about your cancelled cruise. Happily, Galveston is still a great place to vacation.
