Royal Caribbean has sailed at least two ships from Texas for several years now. Currently, only the Liberty of the Seas is scheduled to sail from Texas in Summer 2021. Speculation has been rife that Royal will move an Oasis Class ship to Galveston. They have also delayed the announcement of their entire Caribbean schedule. So what do we know about the Royal Caribbean 2021-2022 plan from Galveston?

Miller’s Seawall Grill

Miller’s Seawall Grill is located next to the Hotel Galvez in Galveston. It is a fantastic breakfast and lunch spot.

I always get to Galveston early before a cruise. I want to avoid the stress of late flights. More to the point, a couple of days in Galveston is an important part of my vacation. I also work hard to find new and interesting places to eat. When staying at the Hotel Galvez this year, we walked across the street to Miller’s Seawall Grill for breakfast. I am glad we did. It was amazing.

Galveston Oasis Class announcement delayed

Any upcoming Galveston Oasis Class announcement has been delayed. Pictured here is the Allure of the Seas, which has not yet been scheduled for any other port in late 2021.

The Port of Galveston announced last year plans to build a third cruise pier. Those details are forthcoming. However, in December 2018 Galveston officials talked about building it as a much larger pier. Royal Caribbean officials discussed their desire to bring a larger ship to Galveston. On Tuesday, I wrote that only the Liberty of the Seas is scheduled in Galveston past April 2021. It looks like there will be more good news for Galveston cruisers. However, a Galveston Oasis class announcement has been delayed. Royal Caribbean should announce more details in early December.

Stuttgarden Tavern Galveston restaurant

Stuttgarden Tavern is located near the Galveston Cruise Pier. They have ample seating both indoor and outdoor.

When we sailed this Summer, we had a big group. We wanted to eat dinner together, but not many restaurants are equipped to seat 14 people. Happily, we stumbled on Stuttgarden Tavern. It is located near the cruise pier, and they have cavernous seating both indoors and out. The grub at this Galveston restaurant isn’t fancy. It is, however, very good.

Galveston Pleasure Pier

The Galveston Pleasure Pier is an excellent way to pass an evening before your cruise.

I always recommend getting to Galveston at least one day in advance of your cruise. You don’t want to risk a late flight on departure, and Galveston is an excellent vacation destination on its own. If you get there early, however, you will want something to do. We walked to the Galveston Pleasure Pier from our hotel. There probably isn’t enough there to pass an entire day. However, it is a great way to pass a beautiful Summer evening.
